About the role
The Network & Security Principal Officer is a skilled professional responsible for the effective and efficient conduct of all Network, Security, Telephony and call management devices / systems located in various “clouds” within Surrey’s data centres.
The definition of Networks also encompasses external boundary service provision such as Internet access, remote access, firewalls, wireless, and web infrastructure platforms.
They perform a broad and challenging variety of work, some unpredictable and non-routine, which requires creative application of a wide range of principles. It is essential to maintain good, professional working relationships with council stakeholders and external partners / customers.
The position can be a combination of remote working and office-based - currently at County Hall, Lewes. They may be required to travel to other East Sussex sites to develop and maintain excellent working relations with the services across the county council and partner organisations.
The Network & Security Principal Officer has a broad remit and needs to be able to quickly establish effective working relationships with partners and 3rd party suppliers on a regular basis.
Technically the position holder will lead work to deliver a large range of platform services to end customers both within and outside the organisation.

Your starting salary will be pro rata if the above position is part-time or term-time only.
Work Permits: we may be able to obtain a Work Permit for this post but this is subject to meeting the requirements of the UK Border Agency’s Points-based Immigration System.
