We are looking for creative individuals to join the Family Safeguarding Service to help make a difference to the lives of the families that we work with.

You will be supporting social workers in the team; working intensively and in a planned way with the child, young person, family or carers and other agencies and services. Supporting children and families to achieve their potential will be central to all you do. You will undertake direct work with children, parenting work and potentially group work. You will need to be able to work in partnership and use your skills to engage with children in a meaningful way.

Surrey Safeguarding team works within the framework of the Family Safeguarding Model. The team comprises of social workers, family support workers, youth support practitioners, psychologists, a mental health practitioner, drug and alcohol workers, domestic abuse practitioners, perpetrator workers and a CAMHS social worker. As a member of our team, you will be using a motivational approach and working alongside our in house practitioners, partners, agencies and the voluntary sector to support children and their families in the community. Surrey Children’s Service provides training to ensure competence and professional development. We will ensure that you receive a full induction and monthly supervision.

You should have experience of working with children and young people and be able to show us how this work has impacted in positives outcomes.

You will need to be able to engage with families/carers and children and support social workers in managing risk and effecting positive change. You should also be able to evidence good written and verbal skills.

Surrey Children’s Service believes that the welfare of children and their families is paramount. Team members are enthusiastic and supportive, committed to the provision of a quality service for children and their carers. We are looking for people with similar qualities to join us to continue the good work already being done.

No two days in the team are the same. You will need experience of working with children in a paid or voluntary area or an interest in the welfare and care of children and young people. Effective interpersonal and communication skills will be vital. Visits can be spread out and in remote areas and so being able to drive and having use of a car is essential.

At Surrey, our values and behaviours are just as important as our skills and abilities. They shape who we are as an organisation. Find out more about the values we follow.
