Salary: Grade 13 being £42,184 to £45,603 per annum plus a market supplement (reviewed annually) of £4,000 to £4,600 per annum           

Hours: 37 per week

Contract Type: Fixed Term from August 21 for six months initially to cover maternity leave. Secondments will be considered.

 

The Youth Offending Team is a multi-disciplinary team which works with children between the ages of 10 and 17 years old who have offended and are made subject to a range of community and custodial disposals. The purpose of this job is to:

  • Be responsible for operational delivery of youth justice services on the Isle of Wight, reporting to the Head of Service for Hampshire and Isle of Wight Youth Offending Teams.
  • Ensure statutory responsibilities for service delivery (including services to victims) are met to a high standard.
  • Monitor and manage budgets as agreed with the Head of Service.
  • Supervise Youth Offending Team staff and provide effective management oversight of the work of the Team, including quality assurance mechanisms.
  • Monitor and manage performance against Key Performance Indicators and local measures.

The post-holder will be required to manage a multi-disciplinary team of up to 20 staff from a variety of professional backgrounds and oversee all aspects of Youth Offending Team service delivery. The nature of this role means that an essential criteria is that the post holder would be required to have either a qualification in Social Work or a Diploma in Probation Studies.

The management reporting line for this role is ultimately through Hampshire County Council Children’s Services Director/Assistant Director and managers who take operational responsibility for children’s services.
