We are not your average local authority planning department. We are a forward thinking, innovative, and fun team; offering a great working environment, a wide range of projects, and career development opportunities. Don’t just take our word for it though…we recently won a National Royal Town Planning Institute Award for Planning Excellence, and a Local Government Chronicle Best Housing Initiative Award. You won’t find a typical planning team approach with us…we are positive, customer focussed, and passionate about creating a great place to live, work and visit.
The role of a Planning Officer at Blaby District Council is wide ranging and rewarding dealing with customer enquiries, providing advice on the need for planning permission, and managing a caseload of householder and minor planning applications from registration and consultation through to determination.
We want to hear from you if you are a graduate seeking your first career opportunity, or you are looking for a change in career, or you are looking to take your next step in your planning career. This is a career graded post which provides opportunities for continued development and progression. The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic, flexible and motivated and must work well in a team, be organised and able to prioritise. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential to provide high levels of customer service.
All staff are currently working from home, and we expect this to continue for a number of months yet. Following this, it is expected that the majority of staff will be home based for a reasonable part of the working week.
