Ealing is a borough of innovation and we are always improving on what we have learned about children’s issues and our services.  Ealing is a vibrant West London borough, with excellent transport links and will soon be home to five cross rail stations.  Ealing’s Children’s Services has a high rate of permanent staff, offers a wide range of training opportunities and a career progression scheme to promote and support staff development.

Working alongside skilled practitioners and multiagency stakeholders, you will fulfil an integral role with respect to ensuring that Ealing’s most vulnerable children and young people are effectively safeguarded. We are currently embarking on an improvement journey and as a result, an exciting opportunity has arisen within our service to recruit a safeguarding manager and local authority designated officer. Whilst fulfilling these functions, you will meaningfully contribute to the implementation of our bold initiatives for our children and families. We seek a passionate and creative practitioner who will thrive on driving our practice standards and improving outcomes for our children and young people.

This is an incredibly exciting time to join Ealing Council and we are determined to provide consistently high-quality support for our children and families. Our ultimate aim is to deliver an agile service that is reflective of and informed by the needs of our children and young people.  Ensuring that they are safe, heard, and empowered throughout our involvements – is an essential component of our service delivery strategy.

It is expected that our safeguarding manager works in a way that is reflective of our Brighter Futures Intensive Engagement Model. Our practice model is a complex, whole system intervention that was launched in June 2015 and supports and enables the children’s social care workforce to build effective, consistent relationships with adolescents, families, communities, and carers – and to use those successful relationships to bring about positive and sustainable change.

If you share these ambitions and feel up to the challenge, we would love to hear from you.

Are you?

  • A professional committed to working in partnership with internal colleagues and other key stakeholders to make a tangible difference in the lives of Ealing’s children, young people, and those closest to them
  • A qualified, Social Work England registered social worker
  • An ambitious practitioner with the skills and experience to deliver the highest standards of professional practice
  • A practitioner with relevant post-qualifying experience
  • An effective communicator who can empower and support your staff with ensuring that children, young people and their families meaningfully participate in meetings and collaboratively contribute to multiagency discussions
  • A practitioner with experience chairing complex meetings, managing staff within a safeguarding framework and working collaboratively to effect change.

What can Ealing offer you?

  • An exciting opportunity to develop your career within a supportive, well organised structure
  • Manageable workloads
  • Flexibility in your working week with a mixture of work at home and at the office available
  • High-quality individual supervision within a stimulating learning environment where creativity and innovation is celebrated and promoted
  • On-going personalised training and development opportunities
  • An excellent benefits package with a range of innovative programmes to help you look after your health and well-being.

What we are looking for?

  • We are looking for an ambitious, professional, conscientious practitioner with sharp analytical skills, quality assurance experience and leadership capabilities – to join our Safeguarding, Review and Quality Assurance Service
  • You will be a team player too – working with colleagues in a range of disciplines, sharing knowledge, and providing support and advice to deliver the best possible outcomes for local children and their families
  • Someone who will flourish working in a diverse community and be eager to explore new and emerging areas in social work practice and service delivery.

This role is deemed customer facing and as such you must have a command of spoken English which is sufficient to enable you to effectively perform the role.  This requirement relates to Part 7 of the Immigration Act 2016.

Ealing council is committed to safeguarding children and vulnerable adults and expects all staff to share this commitment. Ealing follows safer recruitment practices to protect children and vulnerable adults. The post holder will be subject to an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.

This role is subject to Ealing Council’s enhanced vetting process.
