About the Post:
BMBC Adult Employment Service are seeking to recruit a part time Information, Advice and Guidance advisor to work within the Central Ward area on the ‘One Step Closer’ Project. The post is for 21 hours per week and is initially offered on a fixed term basis until 30/4/2022, but subject to securing additional funding, this opportunity may be extended.
The position on offer will be varied in nature and, as such, two days will very rarely be the same. The role will require you to work within the community to engage local unemployed residents into positive activities, promoting social inclusion and providing opportunities to learn new skills and employment focused activities.
You will need to be enthusiastic, motivated and engaging with good communication skills and a positive outlook. Working within the community, you will need to have a good knowledge of a range of local and regional providers who can support health, wellbeing, learning and employability needs, or be willing to develop these partnership roles.
The ability to keep accurate reports of meetings is a key requirement for the role, but you should also be organised, responsive and flexible to meet, and support, the needs of the residents. Applicants will need to be able to work flexibly as occasional evening and weekend work may be required. As Covid-19 restrictions are removed, there is an expectation that some of the working week will be based within one of our offices located within the Central area, but you may be asked to work at other venues across the Borough.
In order to attract candidates with suitable experience to support this project, this role is a career progression opportunity offered at two levels. For the level 1 position you will require a minimum Level 2 in English and be qualified to at least Level 3. The level 2 opportunity requires Level 2 in English and a minimum Level 4 IAG qualification or equivalent in a related field. Where a level 4 IAG qualification is not held there may be the possibility of undertaking this qualification as a development opportunity.
Please note that offers of employment are conditional on the production of the required certificates so it is important that you check the job profile to ensure you have these before you submit your application. For this role an Enhanced DBC check will also be undertaken.

Interviews are expected to be held on week commencing 28 June 2021
