1-year fixed-term appointment

We are looking for a project officer to deliver the Local Heritage List project for Merseyside (Knowsley, Sefton and Wirral). The post-holder will be responsible for developing the local listing systems, tailoring them for each of the authorities involved in the project and carrying out public consultation on them. They will then oversee the rollout of the online local listing platform, promoting it and providing support to members of the public in order to ensure as many people as possible are engaged in the project and that local lists are developed that reflect the values of the local communities where heritage is concerned.

The post-holder’s primary tasks will include collating examples of best-practice from other local authorities’ local lists, developing selection criteria and writing supplementary planning documents to underpin the new system in each local planning authority. They will be required to carry out public consultation exercises and provide support to users of the listing platform. They will work closely with the Conservation Officers at Knowsley, Sefton and Wirral councils and the Historic Environment Record Officer at Merseyside Environmental Advisory Service (MEAS), a shared service hosted by Sefton Council. This project offers an exciting opportunity to develop local lists, working closely with the communities and the diverse built historic environment of our area.

This is a fixed-term project-specific post funded by the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government. For further details about the post and/or the project, please contact the MEAS HER Officer (Ben.croxford@sefton.gov.uk).

Interviews will be held on Wednesday 7h July and will be remote, via Microsoft Teams.
