We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated and organised Participation Worker who can co-design and deliver issue-based campaigns with young people. You will have strong project management skills, excellent written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to communicate at all levels.
This role offers a unique and exciting opportunity to coordinate, develop and build on our well-established East Sussex Youth Cabinet youth voice structure. You will ensure that involvement is meaningful, appropriate and representative, and responsible for facilitating and increasing participation.
The post involves working in collaboration with colleagues across Children’s Services, East Sussex County Council, the Children and Young People’s Trust and its partners, to ensure campaigns influence at a strategic level and are impactful.
We are looking for someone who has an understanding of youth voice, has experience of facilitating consultation activities and keeps up to date on youth participation policy, and current tools and practices to engage young people both virtually and face-to-face.
This role will require you to work regular evening meetings (fortnightly) and occasional weekend working.
You will be joining the Equality, Participation and Strategic Partnerships Team in Children’s Services. It is a creative and friendly team, committed to enhancing the outcomes for children; and has an extensive network of children, families, local leaders and external providers across East Sussex who support the delivery of their work.
ESCC teams are currently working in line with the Government guidelines and regulations in respect to COVID-19. Team’s which are currently able to deliver the service by working from home are provided with necessary equipment. Please note that the Internet connection at home will be required.

Your starting salary will be pro rata if the above position is part-time or term-time only.
Work Permits: we may be able to obtain a Work Permit for this post but this is subject to meeting the requirements of the UK Border Agency’s Points-based Immigration System.
