An exciting opportunity has arisen to join Wyre Council at a time when waste and the environment are at the forefront of legislative change and piquing customer interest to ‘do their bit’ for the environment.
The successful candidate will be play a lead role assisting with for the management of our waste and contractual partners including monitoring and control of the waste operations including household residual collections, compostable organic collections, recycling collections, bulky household collection, clinical waste, and public convenience services.
The post holder will be take a lead role ensuring quality services are provided in an effective, efficient manner within budget and engaging with customers and households on service issues and promotion of the waste hierarchy. You will play a key role in further developing services in response to forthcoming changes, evaluating options, assisting with updating contracts and reporting to Members on progress and for approval.
The successful candidate will have excellent knowledge and experience of managing local authority waste management contracts and proven project management, communication and engagement experience allowing them to design and deliver operational schemes and engagement activities to address issues such as contamination, increased participation / capture rates.
With a good standard of education the successful candidate will have enthusiasm and drive to encourage more sustainable waste and resource management by households, businesses and internally to assist the council delivering its climate change action plan.
