More about the role:
The Road Safety Officer is an integral member of a team which is tasked with preventing road casualties and improving road safety for the residents of Central Bedfordshire and all who travel on our highway network. The post holder will need to be enthusiastic about improving road safety and working with all ages.
The role is to support the road safety team in the creation and delivery of effective interventions to reduce road casualties and increase active travel across the county. The Road Safety Officer will engage with residents, elected members, local community groups and organisations of the Road Safety Partnership including emergency services to facilitate delivery of the improvement for educating "The Fatal Four". The post is crucial to deliver road safety education within schools and businesses alongside assisting with the management of our school crossing patrol staff members across Central Bedfordshire.
The post is a fulltime permanent position (37 hours per week) and there is some flexibility in terms of where you work. Thorn Turn Depot is the main office base but the post holder will have an agile approach to work locations including working from home and a range of office locations across Central Bedfordshire. As part of the engagement and delivery aspects of the team you may well be expected to visit and work from a range of locations and undertake site visits in line with business needs. Therefore the post is classed as an essential car user and the post holder must hold a full and valid driving licence and have access to a vehicle with business use insurance. You may be required to work some weekends for events.
