About the role

Ringmer Primary and Nursery School is a one and a half form entry primary school positioned on the edge of the South Downs National Park, near Lewes. The school was extended in 2016 providing us with a wonderful learning environment; we are situated in fantastic grounds that promote multiple opportunities for outdoor learning and provide excellent access to sporting facilities.

Ofsted 2019 "Leaders place the well-being of pupils at the heart of the school. Staff are trained thoroughly to care for pupils and to look out for their best interests. Pupils in turn trust staff, and this creates a happy, respectful learning community."

We require an outstanding Inclusion Manager and Deputy Headteacher 0.8fte to join our Senior Leadership Team who are dedicated to making a difference and delivering our vision of first class provision for all.  To start in September 2021 or January 2021.

The successful candidate will: 

  • Exercise a key role in assisting the Headteacher and Governors with the strategic development of Inclusion policy/ provision. 
  • Support all staff in understanding the needs of SEN pupils and ensure the objectives to develop SEN are reflected in the school improvement plan. 
  • Have a National award for SEN Co-ordination, is working towards to completing it (note: this is a requirement under the SEND code of practice), or qualified before this was a requirement.
  • Demonstrate sound knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice and has a thorough understanding of SEND procedures including the EHCP process and other related applications.
  • Have experience of working with the LA and outside agencies to support children and parents/carers.
  • Evidence of a commitment to getting the best outcomes for pupils and promoting the ethos and values of the school through the swift identification of barriers to learning for pupils and experience of implementing plans to mitigate these.
  • Have the ability and clear focus to maintain and raise standards throughout the curriculum and have high expectations of children’s engagement and attitudes to learning, behaviour and outcomes in all aspects of school life.
  • Is passionate about providing the best possible provision for children with additional needs and about making a difference to children’s life chances.
  • Is a strong team-player, is self-motivated and relentless in the pursuit of excellent outcomes for our school community: is able to form positive relationships with the whole school community and work collaboratively with colleagues both internally and externally.
  • Be able to support other team members to become outstanding practitioners.
  • Be able to hold others to account to ensure high standard.
