Job introduction

The Youth Employability Service provides free careers information, advice, guidance and support to young people 16-19, who are not in education, employment and training (NEET) or at risk of becoming NEET.  Young people facing additional barriers to work and learning can also access this support up to the age of 25.

The council has a statutory responsibility to increase participation and reduce the proportion of young people in the city who are NEET, the service also tracks and monitors young people transitioning from year 11 into year 12. Due to the impact of the pandemic on education and wellbeing we are anticipating a increased demand for services this year.

Fixed term for: until 30th April 2022 to cover a period of secondment (which could be extended)

If you are an employability adviser looking for a new and rewarding role we want to hear from you. 

As one of our small team you will provide a friendly and professional service actively engaging young people in decision making about their future choices, both face to face and remotely through a range of media. Our advisers help with:

  • career and course decisions
  • college applications
  • job and apprenticeship searches
  • writing a CV and job applications
  • interview preparation
  • AQA qualifications
  • access to personal development programmes   

The successful candidate will have as a minimum a Level4 qualification in Careers Guidance, and a high level of understanding of the educational, employment and social care needs of young people.

 

 

 

 

Additional information

Your starting salary will be pro rata if the above position is less than 37 hours or term-time only.

Work Permits: We may be able to obtain a Work Permit for this post but this is subject to meeting the requirements of the UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) Points-based Immigration System. Please see Gov.uk for more information on the Skilled Worker Visa.
