We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced senior social worker to join our small and friendly Review Team. The team’s work includes both annual reviews of existing packages of support as well as more specialised reviews of some of our most complex packages of care. You will be ensuring that support already put in place for our most vulnerable residents continues to meet need, builds on the strengths and individual circumstances of each resident, and is achieving positive outcomes.
As one of two senior social workers in the Review Team, you will be helping to provide leadership and drive team targets around timely completion of annual reviews and ensuring packages face sufficient scrutiny around costs and quality of provision.
You will have had experience of working with adults in a statutory setting, commissioning and reviewing care as well as knowledge of working within a strength-based model. As with any qualified social worker, we would expect to see a good working knowledge of Safeguarding and key legislation including the Care Act and Mental Capacity Act. In addition, as a senior, we would be looking for someone with experience of supervising qualified and unqualified social care workers and demonstrating good emerging leadership skills.
We are still primarily located at the main council offices in central Wokingham and work alongside the many other sub teams that make up Wokingham Borough Council’s Adult Social Care Services. This has allowed us to maintain close links with the specialist skills of some of the other teams to help promote good joint working. However, the current pandemic has helped drive greater use of virtual technology such as Microsoft Teams which has allowed our team to look at more flexible working arrangements while remaining connected. A combination of both office-based and home-based working is the model we are moving forward with as a council which supports greater flexibility and work/life balance for staff.
You will be offered regular supervision each month with opportunity for reflection as well as setting goals for future development. As a qualified social worker, you would also join the practice forums with other qualified staff across Adult Social Care to help maintain your CPD. Additional employment benefits include opportunities for flexible working, access to a wide range of relevant training, assistance with registration costs, and enrolment in the local government pension scheme. You will also be entitled to a generous annual leave entitlement of 28 days per annum rising to a maximum of 33 days.
Closing Date 11.00pm 18.06.2021
