Following a recently completed building and expansion project Lansdowne School has created an exciting new role: Education Support Assistant. This is an opportunity to work closely with the young people in our school and lead the Summer School enrichment programme.

The SABDEN Multi Academy Trust, based across East Sussex, is an aspirational and supportive Trust, aiming to create a warm, caring, stable, supportive environment in which all pupils and staff feel safe. We are three special schools, a secure children’s home, a large countywide alternative provision and a vocationally focussed Free School. We strive to discover success through learning, self-belief and achievement.  Pupils are empowered to take responsibility through a personalised curriculum supported by secure relationships with staff and strong partnerships with parents and carers.

Lansdowne Secure Children’s Home, in Hailsham, offers young people in crisis a safe, therapeutic and physically secure environment. Within the purpose built facility, Lansdowne School, as part of the SABDEN Multi Academy Trust, provides a full-time education designed to re-engage residents in their learning. The school team is experienced, supportive and committed to delivering the highest quality learning experience.

The school is seeking applications from enthusiastic candidates, able to work collaboratively within the small school team, to motivate and support the education of young people as well as liaising with home staff to meet social and emotional needs. You will be resilient and resourceful, able to remain calm in sometimes challenging situations; you will appreciate working in a structured environment with learning and enjoyment at the heart of all that we do.

The successful candidate will be energetic and creative and able to work as part of the multi-disciplinary team (Education, Care and Health) taking the lead in the provision of enrichment activities for the residents as well as being an integral member of the school support staff team in a TA capacity. This post offers some flexible holiday to allow oversight of the Home’s Summer School during August.

Lansdowne offers an opportunity to work in a holistic setting with extremely vulnerable young people. The school team is experienced, supportive and committed to delivering the highest quality learning experience for the residents.

The successful candidate will be joining a Trust and school that continues to be ambitious in its drive to improve outcomes for our pupils. You will join a highly dedicated and professional staff team and be part of a supportive working and learning environment, where your professional development is highly valued.
