Tunbridge Wells Borough Council is looking for a Senior Procurement Officer to join their procurement partnership with Maidstone Borough Council. You will be providing advice and guidance on the appropriate procurement processes to key stakeholders and contract managers, ensuring that they are followed compliantly.
If you are educated to degree level (or a vocationally qualified equivalent), have three to five years’ experience within a procurement role in any industry, and you are looking to develop your career – we’d like to hear from you!
You will need to show that you have excellent attention to detail, as well as being creative and having the ability to problem solve. You will also need to demonstrate a proven track record of managing change, as you will be introducing category management processes and procedures across the two authorities, for the very first time.
We are looking for someone who is enthusiastic, commercially astute, and has the ability to prioritise and manage a busy and diverse workload. If you have not yet taken Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply (CIPS) Qualifications, you will be expected to study for these upon completion of your probation period. The Council is fully committed to supporting professional development and will work with you to find the best way for you achieve success in your exams.
The partnership is going through an exciting period of transformation - having been formed in April 2020 - and you will be a part of this, helping to shape our working practices and processes moving forward as well as providing senior level support to the junior members of the procurement team. You will deputise for the Procurement Manager in periods of absence and will be expected to attend committee meetings with elected members when required.
