This is a 2 year fixed term contract.
As a Revenues Officer, you will deal with customers owing Council Tax and Business Rates arrears and assist other areas within the Revenues and Benefits Team with collection and recovery of debts.
You will discuss payment with customers, or their representatives, by email, letter, face to face or over the phone. You will need to be an excellent communicator, with good negotiation skills, and the ability to investigate all the facts of a case, in order to be able to agree a reasonable payment arrangement.
Where a payment plan cannot be agreed, you will be required to consider all available collection tools and then decide on the most appropriate enforcement action to take, on a case by case basis.
Customers may be angry or upset because of the action that is being taken, so you must also have experience of dealing with these situations effectively and calmly.
You will need to be self-confident and able to work on your own, as well as within a team. This is a challenging, but interesting, position that will offer you the chance to learn various skills, whilst gaining valuable experience in this specialised field.
Please note the successful postholder will be required to hold a DBS.
