St Albans is a unique English Cathedral City with a colourful history which can be seen in the Roman remains and variety of beautiful architecture, heritage sites and conservation areas. Set within green belt, off the M25, A1M and M1 the District includes a cathedral, historic city centre and charming villages. Our refurbished offices are in the city centre near to the station (London St Pancras 20 minutes), shops and restaurants. In short it is a great place to live and work.
This is an exciting opportunity to support the community of St Albans in the recovery from Covid-19 as part of the Community Engagement Team. You will build effective working relationships across all Council services, key partners, the voluntary and community sector to support the recovery of our local community following the pandemic.
You will develop strong links with local groups to understand concerns, needs and support required; assist the administration of the Safety Advisory Group for events to facilitate events returning across the District; oversee the work of the Covid Marshals and volunteer groups; and work closely with Environmental Health and Police Colleagues.
You should have experience in event management or working within safety advisory groups. You will have strong communication skills and experience in establishing relations with community groups and partnership organisations in the community. You must also be highly organised, able to remain calm under pressure and be able to multi-task while working to deadlines.
We offer a competitive package which also includes up to 30.5 days annual leave (up to 15.25 days annual leave for the duration of the 6 month contract), pension scheme, reimbursement of professional fees, development and training opportunities, flexible working options (including homeworking), leisure and travel discounts and a number of other benefits.
