We are looking for two enthusiastic and self-motivated senior transport planners to join North Somerset Council’s busy Integrated Transport Unit.
The posts are fixed term for 12 months, to help resource the National Bus Back Better Strategy, which promises to be a fast paced and exiting project helping to transform our services within North Somerset and jointly with our neighbours in the West of England.
Areas of Work include:
- Helping to establish the Bus Service Improvement Plan
- Formulation of an Enhanced Quality Partnership
- Concessionary fares scheme
- Public Transport network reviews and planning
- Supported bus services reviews and planning
- Publicity and Communications
- Supervision of Budgets
- Infrastructure and development inputs
- Community transport service transformation
The ideal candidates will be able to demonstrate knowledge of planning and running an effective public transport network, including work on developing Enhanced Partnerships with operators, contract management and procurement, high standards of communication and engagement with stakeholders, and public transport transformation within local government or the transport and logistics sector.
You will require excellent organisation and communication skills, with the ability to innovate. Candidates will be educated to degree or equivalent standard in transport, planning, geography or other related subjects, or alternatively will have previous experience working in a similar role.
Successful delivery of the role will rely on effective consultation with key stakeholders, including our councillors, transport operators and the travelling public.
Due to the ongoing effects of the global pandemic, the role is predominantly expected to remote working from home.
