Early Communication Support Workers (Early Years Settings) - 8 month maternity cover
If you have an interest in young children’s speech, language and communication development this is an exciting opportunity to join a small team of Early Communication Support Workers who share the same passion with early years settings. This role involves supporting the development of early speech, language and communication in line with the East Sussex Early Years Speech, Language and Communication Pathway. You would be supporting and guiding early years settings to develop their understanding and skills in speech, language and communication development thus enabling them to support those children where communication delay is identified. It is about embedding the East Sussex Pathway resources; the Language Checkers, the Speech and Language leaflets, the Home Learning ideas and the Child Monitoring Tool into everyday practice and developing family friendly interventions to support identified children and families.
Due to the success of this work in Hastings and St Leonards we are looking to roll this workforce programme out across County. We are currently looking to recruit to this team to cover a maternity leave ending in March 2022. The role includes meeting with settings, auditing their current understanding and practice and supporting them in embedding the East Sussex Speech, Language and Communication Pathway into their practice. You would be part of the Early Help Service 0-19 and work with a range of colleagues and in partnership with other services. As a member of this team you would be supported by speech and language therapists through clinical supervision and have access to a range of training.
The post holder will have experience of working in early years settings supporting children with speech, language and communication needs and their families. You will be required to regularly travel to early years settings across the county and will be based in a Children’s Centre in East Sussex.
