About the role
Learning Disability Services are seeking two skilled, motivated, enthusiastic and committed individuals to join us as part of the management team in leading our new supported employment service ‘Steps to Work’.
As part of the management team you will support the Employment Coordinator, Service Manager to set up and establish the new service model, developing best practice, leading a team of Job Coaches so that people with learning disabilities and autism can access employment, where they are supported to fulfil their employment aspirations, and achieve social and economic inclusion.
As Team Leader, Work Experience you will be responsible for managing a designated service area which will focus on either a skill building pathway where the post holder will be leading on client training, qualifications and work experience opportunities OR job seeking and employment where the post holder will be leading on paid / unpaid work and supporting clients and working with employers for sustainable employment.
The post holders will be involved in developing a range of work (paid and unpaid) and work experience opportunities across East Sussex and within the County Council for people with learning disabilities and autism.
In our current portfolio we have a car valet service in Lewes and Eastbourne and a Café in Uckfield to provide work experience / training and you will be involved in developing these further whilst establishing new work experience and employment opportunities for clients.
The service will have supported employment targets and you will be instrumental in supporting the service to achieve these.
Networking to create new learning and work placement opportunities for the people we support will also be key to this role along with forging strong partnerships for the benefit of the service, the team and the clients we support to achieve great measurable outcomes.
Within this role you will be responsible for supporting the Employment Coordinator in promoting a culture that is based on respect and dignity. You will bring with you a commitment to providing excellent support, continuous learning and reflection, along with an ethos of working together in an efficient and creative way as part of your proven track record. You will also be key in supporting the service to maintain high standards within a Supported Employment Quality Assurance Framework.
In addition to the right core values you will bring experience of leading and supervising staff, along with good communication and organisational skills of yourself and others. The role is diverse and rewarding. You will receive excellent training opportunities and support through induction and supervision as part of our commitment to you. This role is managing a county wide service and will involve frequent travelling around East Sussex and at short notice. Being a car driver and having access to a vehicle for work is essential to this role. Applicants will need to demonstrate how they can meet the travel requirements as part of the shortlisting criteria.
The post holders office base will be Uckfield.

Your starting salary will be pro rata if the above position is part-time or term-time only.
