About the role

We recognise the importance of our sheltered housing schemes, so to make sure we are better able to deliver support to our schemes, we have restructured our team to include management support and created both permanent and temporary posts for Mobile Support Officers.

The role of Mobile Support Officer is a rewarding and varied one.  Our MSOs work with our residents in sheltered accommodation to ensure a high quality of life for clients who use or live in those schemes. You’ll look after the wellbeing of people with support needs, enabling them to live happily and independently in their own homes.

You will be carrying out frequent client visits and telephone checks across the region, providing accurate record keeping and liaise closely with our Home Safeguard Control Office. We’ll look to you to assess the progress and engagement of clients to ensure they feel generally happy and well-looked after.

About you

To be successful in this role you will need a good standard of education and have practical experience of working within a caring environment.  You’ll also need to be a self-motivated and flexible individual who has the ability to work to high customer care standards with minimum supervision, showing sensitivity, empathy and a have a strong customer focus which is vital to this role, along with the ability to build good relationships with clients.

You will need excellent communication skills, the ability to remain calm under pressure and the ability to show resilience.  You’ll also need to be flexible and willing to step in to cover your colleagues within East Devon, when they are on holiday or sick leave.

You will be required to be fully mobile, visiting clients across the district so your own car is essential.    A valid UK driving licence is essential and a DBS check is required for this post.
