About the role
The Head Teacher and Governing Body of Battle and Langton CE Primary School are looking for a full time Caretaker to help us keep our school clean, safe and secure for our pupils, staff and visitors.
You will make sure our site is secure at the start of the day, carry out cleaning and general maintenance and liaise with contractors where needed.
You'll be on your feet a lot of the day and you'll need to move goods and equipment around the site. One minute you might be taking delivery of a pallet of photocopy paper, the next setting up the hall for an event before going on to escort a heating engineer to service the boilers.
You'll need to be very reliable as the school will depend on you. Above all we want you to take pride in maintaining the site so that our children, staff and visitors to know that ours is a well-kept school. This will mean sweeping and litter-picking outdoor areas and leading a team of 5 cleaners who clean the inside of the school.
There is also some paperwork involved with the role which includes COSHH risk assessments, weekly and termly premises inspections and recording of water temperatures and fire drills. You'll also be maintaining stocks of cleaning chemicals and consumables and placing orders for these.
This is a 52 week a year role (with annual leave) as we carry out lots of our essential work through the school holidays when we can access the whole site without pupils and staff being around. You’ll work 37 hours per week and working times are Monday to Friday 7am to 3pm with half an hour for lunch.
As you will be working around children our priority is to keep them safe, you will need to have extra clearance to be employed - an enhanced DBS check, as well as the usual references.
Applicants can visit the school prior to applying to meet with the Business Manager to discuss the role in more detail. Please contact the Business Manager (Ed Croft) by e-mail: firstname.lastname@example.org
Work Permits: we may be able to obtain a Work Permit for this post but this is subject to meeting the requirements of the UK Border Agency’s Points-based Immigration System.
Due to the restrictions we cannot guarantee that individuals that meet the requirements of the Points-based Immigration System will be issued with clearance to obtain work permits.
