Do you want to protect the district and help save lives? Do you want to make a difference to our community? Do you want to help reduce Covid-19 transmission? If so, then we have some great opportunities to join us in our fight against Covid-19.
We are looking for 4 part time Covid Information officers to play a key role in supporting the work of our Public Protection team to contain the spread of Covid-19.
You will support our Public Protection Team providing information to the public throughout our district on Covid measures in place, while also working in a preventative role, developing, and enhancing working relationships with residents and businesses. We are looking for people that share Our Values.
You will act as an ambassador for the Council in a preventive role to help reduce the spread of infection through education, advice, and persuasion, working in partnership with colleagues from other teams across the Council.
There may be opportunities to work with partner organisations such as the Police, Fire, Universities, NHS etc sharing knowledge and working together in a joined-up approach.
The main site of work will be either Morecambe Town Hall or The Storey Institute in Lancaster – however there will be a requirement to be able to start from either base and the majority of your time will be spent out in the Community.
You will be working outside and required to cover distances on foot in excess of 15km per day. There may be opportunity to use the Council’s electric bikes, and you would be required to use your own helmet. You will need to be confident in face-to-face discussions and have a common sense-safety first approach.
The posts are temporary for 12 months.
The hours of work are 18 hours per week, working Monday to Sunday on a shift rota basis. Staff cover is required each working day during office hours and weekends or on bank holidays. Your working days will be set in agreement with the Covid Officer Team Leader or Project Coordinator. The nature of this role means that more staff are required at weekends and the rota reflects this.
For internal applicants, this role can be a secondment opportunity. The secondment of an employee from another Service can only take place with the agreement of the Manager of the Service the applicant is contracted to.
Lancaster City Council has unanimously declared a climate emergency and will therefore work towards reducing carbon emissions to net-zero by 2030. As part of this role, you will be expected to participate and work towards reducing carbon emissions.
We are a Forces Friendly employer, and an Armed Forces Covenant committed organisation. We welcome applications from defence reserves and other members of our armed forces community.
Excellent benefits include: A Local Government Pension Scheme (the Council makes a 15.5% contribution). Discounted gym membership and discount on days out, activities and retail.
