To assist in the completion of the Audit Plan as allocated by the Professional Lead – Internal Audit, to appraise and report on systems of Internal Control for all departments and to lead on audit assignments including planning and scoping audits, facilitating meetings and writing and agreeing reports with management.
An opportunity has arisen in the Resources Division for an individual to work within the Audit Section. The areas of responsibility for this post will include being the lead on audit assignments allocated by the Professional Lead – Internal Audit which will include planning and scoping audits, facilitating meetings, report writing and agreeing reports with management. You will also be required to investigate and report on specific instances of suspected fraud and irregularities to ensure financial probity and safeguard the assets of the Authority which will include surveillance work when necessary.
The successful candidate will be required to provide the appropriate advice to Chief Officers, Members and Head Teachers on the interpretation and application of relevant Financial Instructions, Financial Procedure Rules and Contract Procedure Rules.
Educational attainments required for the post are completion of Association of Accounting Technician Qualification (or equivalent) and part qualification of a Professional Accountancy Qualification (CCAB) or Institute of Internal Auditors Qualification (IIA).
The successful candidate will have excellent technical ability. Essential to the role are excellent report writing and communication skills.
The position carries an Approved Casual Car User Allowance therefore access to a vehicle for work purposes is a requirement.
