About the role
A new and exciting opportunity has arisen within Learning Disability Services where we are seeking a highly skilled, motivated, enthusiastic and committed person to join us and lead our new supported employment service as it’s manager.
You will be central to setting up and establishing the new service and developing best practice so that people with learning disabilities and autism can access and retain employment, where people can be supported to fulfil their employment aspirations and achieve social and economic inclusion.
As the Employment Coordinator you will be responsible for managing and developing our ‘Steps to Work’ supported employment service that will provide people with learning disabilities and autism a range of work (paid or unpaid) and work experience opportunities across East Sussex and within the County Council.
In our current portfolio we have a car valet service in Lewes and Eastbourne and a Café in Uckfield which provide work experience / training and you will be instrumental in developing these further whilst establishing new work experience and employment opportunities for people with a learning disability and autism.
In the role, you will have supported employment targets to meet and the post holder will lead on ensuring the service achieves these
Networking to create new learning and work placement opportunities for the people we support will also be key to this role along with forging strong partnerships for the benefit of the service, the team and the clients we support to achieve great measurable outcomes.
Within this role you will be responsible for promoting a culture that is based on respect and dignity. You will bring with you a commitment to providing excellent support, continuous learning and reflection, along with an ethos of working together in a dynamic way. You will lead the service to maintain high standards within a Supported Employment Quality Assurance Framework.
In addition to the right core values you will need to have good leadership, communication and organisational skills. The role will be challenging and diverse but rewarding. As this role is managing a countywide service and will involve frequent travelling around East Sussex and at short notice, being a car driver and having access to a vehicle for work is essential to this role. Applicants will need to demonstrate how they can meet the travel requirements as part of the shortlisting criteria.

Your starting salary will be pro rata if the above position is part-time or term-time only.
