We are looking for an experienced, innovative and motivated officer to join our Environment Client Team. The role is very varied, interesting and fast paced. You will deal with enquiries relating to Landscapes from a variety of sources, and liaise with the Councils LATC landscapes management team and monitor their performance to ensure that a first class service is provided to the Councils customers, and that value for money is achieved.
You must have relevant experience in working on your own initiative to excellent quality standards with no supervision. The successful candidate will have experience of inspecting work, overseeing works, management and appraisal, supervising teams/contractors including volunteers, budget management and practical landscape design.
You will have a Degree in Environmental Management, Horticulture, Landscape or related subject or equivalent. Previous managerial/supervisory experience in a similar environment is essential with a strong working knowledge of Landscape matters. You will supervise the work of a Landscape Officer on a daily basis and work with the Senior Biodiversity Officer who also shares this resource to ensure that priorities are met.
Excellent organisational and communication skill with stakeholders, residents, businesses, contractors and colleagues are essential. You must be able to interpret and prepare technical data and be familiar with GIS systems as the Council is moving towards mapping all landscapes and open spaces and their maintenance regimes. You will also be comfortable addressing groups of people and be able to attend occasional meetings outside normal working hours. A full driving licence and use of a car or other suitable means of transport is essential for work purposes.
