Craven District Council requires an Information Governance Manager, based at its modern office in the centre of the attractive market town of Skipton.

This important role is responsible for Information Governance and Data Protection across the Council’s services and will support the Council in managing its information assets, working to achieve compliance with relevant legal and best practice standards. Additionally you will be responsible for promoting the requirements and for all aspects of Information Governance and handling, including Information Security, General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR), Information Management and access to information (e.g. the Freedom of Information Act and Environmental Information Regulation).

The successful candidate will be responsible for the continuing implementation of the Council’s Information Governance Strategy and Framework also promoting and providing Information Governance Awareness and training to Council employees.

You will act as a point of contact for employees and stakeholders and take responsibility for the planning and undertaking of data audits and privacy impact assessments. You will also be responsible for overseeing the Council’s complaints handling processes.

You will ideally be educated to degree level, though other relevant qualifications plus experience would be acceptable. You will need to demonstrate a good understanding and experience of the wider aspects of Information Governance (including Data Protection and Information Security).
