Barrow Borough Council are looking to recruit an IT Support Officer. This role will cover the Council’s business systems implementations and ongoing development and support of the required integrations.

The successful applicant will be educated to degree level in an IT related subject and have a strong understanding of current IT development technologies.
The successful candidate will have strong practical technical experience, incorporating system installation and configuration, database setup and configuration, integration design and development, testing and troubleshooting.
You will be responsible for the lead role in the integration of data between applications as well as the day to day support of existing third party and in-house developed solutions. ASP.NET. experience is essential, along with a detailed understanding of MS SQL, SSIS. Also, knowledge of a scripting language such as VB Script or PowerShell.
You will be capable of working under pressure and managing a range of activities whilst contributing to the service delivery in an IT environment, including customer liaison and successfully interpreting complex business needs and translating these into effective IT solutions.
You will demonstrate a proactive approach, the ability to prioritise your workload within demanding schedules, excellent communication skills and the ability to take ownership. A willingness to learn new skills and keep skills up-to-date is essential.
The ability to converse at ease and in accurate spoken English with other Council staff and external service desks, and provide/obtain information and advice, is also an essential requirement.
The post is offered on a full-time basis of 37 hours per week (agile or flexible working is available subject to service needs).
The successful applicant will automatically be enrolled into the Local Government Pension Scheme and will be required to obtain a Basic Disclosure.
