Your New Role

You will work within the TSG structure of the Portsmouth International Port (PIP) maintenance team providing mechanical fitting, turning and welding skills on a range of works.  You will be responsible to the Maintenance & Facilities Manager (M&FM).

What you need to succeed

You will have served a recognised mechanical engineering apprenticeship, and ideally also have a BTEC in Mechanical Engineering (or similar / equivalent) qualification.  You will also have a sound knowledge of and perform the functions specified by the Planned Maintenance System (PMS) for checking and reporting of defects on items of PIP operational equipment and major assets.

You will be able to carry out minor works with an emphasis on mechanical fitting, welding, Hydraulics and pneumatics. You will also be capable of working from engineering drawings.

You will also participate in the TSG "On Call" roster team for one week in four and also provide additional cover during periods of sickness absence and other unforeseen absences within the group.

This is a physically demanding role, and you must be able to work at heights and in confined spaces as well as outdoors in all weathers
