IT Manager
Dartford Borough Council is seeking to recruit an IT Manager with extensive public sector experience to be responsible and accountable for the management and development of the Council’s computer systems.
The successful candidate will have excellent and current knowledge of the technical management of computer hardware/software systems, with hands on experience of supporting Windows Desktop and Server environments, LAN and WAN networking skills, strong understanding of virtualisation technology – in particular VMWare vSphere/Horizon Skills, IP Telephony, Cloud technology (O365, Azure, Exchange Online, Teams etc.) and Cyber Security, and demonstrate expertise in data centre management and data governance
In addition to the day to day management of the IT team you will be expected to offer ongoing mentoring and support by drafting and communicating job expectations with regular performance appraisals, including the creation and monitoring of personal development plans for the members of your team.
You will have experience of designing, developing, and implementing IT policies and procedures to ensure all staff are aware of and will adhere to the Council’s acceptable use policy, and ensure security of data, network access and backup systems.
Excellent inter personal skills are required as you will be expected to develop a close working relationship with service managers to create transformation road maps and offer strategic IT direction where required.
In your current role you must have been instrumental in creating and developing IT strategy and have experience of vendor management, and managing high value outsourced third party contracts.
You will have created and been responsible for high value budgets, both Capital and Revenue, and be responsible for the ongoing procurement of IT assets using public sector procurement rules.
The ideal candidate will be an accredited Prince 2 practitioner and will have achieved the ITIL v4 Foundation qualification.
