Your new place of work

Sefton is a vibrant local authority that is already on a journey of aspiration and ambition as it works towards delivering its exciting Vision 2030.  This journey is shared with our partners and communities as we strive to ensure Sefton is a confident and connected Borough.

Sefton has a strong track record of partnership working and place leadership, and for having a motivated and dedicated workforce that is resilient and adaptable, it puts the Council in the best possible place to meet the challenges and opportunities ahead.

If you would like to be part of our team and contribute to our ongoing success and have the flexibility and drive to enable us to innovate and make a difference to outcomes for children and young people then we would like to hear from you for our new vacancies. As a passionate, child focused and resilient social worker with a ‘can do’ attitude, Sefton Council wants you to help achieve its vision for all children. With our partners, we are working hard to help all children and young people keep and feel safe; to support individuals and families as early as possible; and to help children and young people feel good about themselves and others. As an Authority, our current focus is caseload and good quality supervision, with our in house training provider and the many development opportunities and training tools available for all staff, you can become part of our vision and management team. We are keen to find the right person for Sefton and are willing to consider roles which fit your experience and preference. If you would like to discuss this further, please contact us by email or phone.

Your confident and connected borough

Sefton is the northern borough of Liverpool City Region with more than 273,000 residents.

Boasting 22 miles of stunning coastline, Sefton is a leading coastal tourist destination with a flourishing visitor economy. Spanning the busy Port of Liverpool, the famous Antony Gormley’s ‘Another Place’ installation, attractive beaches and dunes, to the resort town of Southport, the diversity of the borough provides a unique mix of urban and natural setting.

You will be working in a diverse and exciting borough with a world renown race course and famous golf courses alongside National Trust nature reserves where people can enjoy a great work-life balance. With excellent transport links Sefton is well placed for accessing cities across the North West, including Liverpool and Manchester. With vibrant town centres, intimate commuter towns, beautiful villages and stunning coastal and rural locations, everyone can find their perfect home.

This is an organisation where excellent links with our partners, businesses and communities are integral to the delivery of our products and services.

Team Managers have management responsibility for a team of social workers and are expected to provide robust supervision in line with Sefton’s supervision policy. Applicants should have proven management experience or be ready to demonstrate their readiness for the step up to a management position. Please note that in order to apply for this post you must be qualified and registered as a Social Worker with SWE and have post qualifying experience in safeguarding children.
