Shape a better future with us
We’re thrilled to have achieved Investors in People (IIP) Gold status for how we lead, support and develop people. Now we’d like you to be part of our success and help us take change further. Join us on our journey to a brighter future. By working together, with each other and with our communities, we can take pride in improving lives. Let’s make a better Barnsley for everyone.
Your role in our journey
Barnsley MBC are seeking to recruit a Senior Public Health Officer who will lead on the delivery of public health functions, ensuring collaborative working, as part of Barnsley’s distributed model of public health.
You will be flexible in your approach and able to communicate complex public health messages to colleagues across the council.
You will work as part of a team to embed and improve public health outcomes for children, young people and families living in the Borough, across the Integrated Care System.
You will use your communication and interpersonal skills to influence strategic partnerships; building and maintaining effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders to develop and deliver multi-agency action plans that tackle health inequalities and target the most vulnerable children and young people in Barnsley.
In particular, this includes working closely with early help and families services, children’s social care and special education services.
What you’ll need
To join us, you will need to be passionate about the health and wellbeing of vulnerable children and young people in Barnsley, have an understanding of the wider factors that can impact on the health and wellbeing of children and young people, especially those most at risk and be a great team worker with excellent communication skills.
A lot to look forward to
Here at Barnsley, we live and work by four important values: honesty, teamwork, excellent service, and taking pride in what we do. Barnsley Council’s distributed public health model supports our vision to be a Public Health Council. This is an exciting opportunity to become part of a wider team who can really make a difference to the health and wellbeing of children and young people in the Borough.
