About the role
An exciting role is available within a busy Equality, Participation and Strategic Partnerships Team to support the development of policy, guidance and training for staff to fulfil the public sector Equality Duty and improve participation with children and families. The post will ensure collaborative working with colleagues across Children’s Services, East Sussex County Council and the Children and Young People’s Trust to share and develop best practice.
You will have excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to communicate at all levels so you can draft policies and reports, including from service user feedback and policy reviews.
You will have strong multi-agency working, including building highly effective working relationships with an array of partners: voluntary, community and local government.
You will be skilled in paying attention to detail to support the evaluation and assessment of the impact of projects. With strong organisational skills and a real passion for delivering an excellent service, you will be committed to improving outcomes for children and families.
We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated and organised officer who can support managers to understand barriers to equality for different groups and keep up to date with best practices, including the impact of developments in technology to engage with children, young people, parents and carers.
You will be joining the Equality, Participation and Strategic Partnerships team in Children’s Services. It is a creative and friendly team, committed to enhancing the outcomes for children; and has an extensive network of children, families, local leaders and external providers across East Sussex who support the delivery of their work.
ESCC teams are currently working in line with the Government guidelines and regulations in respect to COVID-19. Team’s which are currently able to deliver the service by working from home are provided with necessary equipment. Please note that the Internet connection at home will be required.

Your starting salary will be pro rata if the above position is part-time or term-time only.
Work Permits: we may be able to obtain a Work Permit for this post but this is subject to meeting the requirements of the UK Border Agency’s Points-based Immigration System.
