15 hours per week 2:00 – 5:00 p.m. Term time only


West St Leonards Primary Academy is an Ofsted rated good academy within the University of Brighton Academies Trust.  Our After School Club opened in January 2014.  The club has been growing and we are now looking to appoint an After School Club Assistant to join our friendly staff.


The successful  candidate will need to have a fun outlook on providing child led activities,  be able to work as part of a team and ensuring that a safe environment is provide at all times.


We would ideally like you to have the following or equivalent:

First Aid at Work

Level 2 food hygiene for catering


Safeguarding training

JOB TITLE   After School Club Assistant

RESPONSIBLE FOR        Assisting After School Club Leaders

MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB   Assist After School Club leaders with child led activities, food preparation, general tidying and ensuring the safety of pupils and environment.


  1. Under the direction of the leader to be responsible for providing a high quality of activities, ensuring that the staff are properly deployed and offer appropriate stimulation and support to the children.
  2. To ensure that the Club is a safe environment for children, that equipment is safe, standards of hygiene are high, safety procedures are implemented at all times and fire drills/evacuation procedures are carried out effectively.
  3. To promote Learning through Play.
  4. To contribute to and implement all club policies and procedures.
  5. To report any concerns to After School Leaders and/ or Senior Management as necessary
  6. To carry out all responsibilities and activities within an equal opportunities framework
  7. To work within agreed policies and practices, including behaviour management, child protection, equal opportunities and Health & Safety
