About the Post:
We have an excellent Safeguarding Children Partnership in Barnsley that works hard across partner agencies to keep our children and young people safe from harm and to help them achieve great outcomes. We want to extend our work with young people at risk of contextual safeguarding to develop excellent practice for young people in relation to extra familial harm and new safeguarding risks emerging such as online exploitation.
The role – Temporary 12 months (open to secondment)
You will support our wider children’s workforce to develop excellent practice in contextual safeguarding through a strong focus on learning and quality practice. As an experienced trainer, you will facilitate and deliver training and learning sets and you will develop a preventative approach for the early identification of contextual safeguarding and help to design appropriate early interventions. Working with colleagues in children’s social care you will support contextual safeguarding assessment processes and tools, best practice, standards and planning to ensure that young people are effectively safeguarded. You will contribute to quality assurance activity related to contextual safeguarding.
You will Identify and cascade national best practice examples, training and development tools to support practice development. You will also develop online resources, internally and externally, for practitioners and parents and young people. Listening to the voice of young people and their families is key to our service development and in this role, you will develop participation and engagement strategies, forums and opportunities to consult with parents, carers and young people, to inform and improve service planning and delivery. You will also engage and consult with key stakeholders and member agencies of the BSCP to support system wide learning, improvement and that strategies, policy and procedures are joined up across the children’s partnership, including the South Yorkshire region.

Essential Requirements: Degree in a relevant professional qualification such as Health or Social Care with significant experience and knowledge of safeguarding work. Experience of implementing and delivering multi agency/single agency training programmes.
