Programme Manager (Market Towns) (£42,269 – £47,576) Fixed term – 12 months
At the gateway to the East of England, Huntingdonshire has built on its history and has many locational advantages with attractive countryside and green spaces and lying within the Oxford-Cambridge growth corridor. The area is well placed to attract businesses, supported by new communities that work well with the existing market towns and a blend of urban and rural life. Huntingdonshire District Council is already good, innovative and is striving to be great.
We are seeking talented individuals to join us in securing delivery of our economy-led Towns Regeneration programme to ensure Huntingdonshire, its people, and its places continue to be successful. Two significant programmes of work are underway, to ensure our Town Centres respond and adapt to economic change and remain a destination of choice for business, shopping and leisure.
In St. Neots, and with the support of the Future High Streets Fund (FHSF), the Council will deliver an ambitious programme of projects to reimagine the town centre. In addition, the Council is committed to commencing a regeneration focussed Masterplan Programme across our other three other market towns (Huntingdon, St. Ives and Ramsey).
To do all this, we need a Programme Manager (Towns Programme) to drive and co-ordinate six key projects and programmes, including the Master Planning work for the market towns, totalling £13.5M. Full details of the FHSF can be found here
In parallel, the focus of our energy over the past year has been on strong support to the local community in responding to the challenges raised by COVID-19. Whilst the response continues, we have secured new funding from the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Combined Authority for a programme of projects to deliver interventions to accelerate CV19 recovery for our town centres. These will need to be delivered by the end of March 2022. This work will be supported by a new Delivery Manager position (which we are also recruiting on a 12 month FTC), working alongside our HDC Project Managers and collaborating with the Towns Programme Manager.
With clear opportunities to secure real outcomes and lasting legacy, this is a new fixed term post, key to the Council’s delivery agenda. You will report into senior management and be responsible for the programme and project delivery, working across the Council and where appropriate with partner organisations.
You will need to demonstrate a creative approach as well as a strong track record of delivering outcomes at pace, on time and on budget. As an experienced project and programme manager, you will need to generate new ideas, problem solve and build and secure effective partnerships.
As an organisation we have an enviable financial position, solid service delivery, and a structure that enables us to take advantage of emerging opportunities. We are on a change journey and are seeking brave and talented individuals who are confident in their ability to come and drive this journey forward, with us.
If you have the knowledge, skills and experience that can bring innovation and creativity to this exciting role we would love to hear from you.
We want to employ staff who embody our icare values (Inspiring, Collaborative, Accountable, Respectful, Enterprising) all of which support our ultimate purpose of putting our customers first.
