An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Democratic and Member Services Team at Wirral Council. Having recently adopted a new Constitution and governance arrangements, Democratic and Member Services is at the forefront of supporting Members and Officers of the Council through the organisational changes.
As a Senior Democratic Services Officer, you'll play a key role in the Services' approach to supporting the Council's decision-making process.
Key tasks will include:
- Providing support and advice to the Council's Senior Leadership Team in the undertaking of Policy Reviews and Task & Finish Working Groups
- Supporting democratic and scrutiny projects to ensure the continuous improvement of service, drafting and presenting reports to members and briefings and formal meetings as and when required.
- Supporting the Principal Democratic Services Officers in order to provide an effective and efficient administrative support service for all Council and Committee meetings, decision making processes and independent appeals process.
In addition the unique role will also undertake research and provide direct Policy & Project Management support to the Head of Democratic and Member Services.
The ideal candidate will have experience of local authority committee administration including drafting minutes, undertaking detailed research/report writing and dealing and working with Councillors and senior Council officers, as well as having experience of leading on specific projects using own initiative.
The post is permanent and defined as being politically restricted.
