We are looking for an experienced Assistant Team Manager to join our Early Help and Short Breaks Team. We want a leader who is passionate about providing quality services to children with disabilities and their families within a strengths-based practice framework, helping children to increase their skills and independence and building resilience within families.
Your role will involve leading a team of three Early Help and Short Breaks Co-ordinators, who will undertake holistic assessments of children and their families. Through Early Help support, direct work and the provision of short breaks where applicable, you will help them to develop and review plans that promote the right to family life, with the minimal level of intervention necessary to maintain this.
Reporting to the Team Manager, you will be confident in your ability to independently manage staff, budgets, deliver quality supervision and performance manage. You will have a good knowledge of statutory thresholds and be able to deputise effectively for the Team Manager, as well as providing management cover for the wider social work service for children with disabilities when required.
You will be able to motivate and support the team to undertake direct work with children and offer both support and constructive challenge to families and other professionals to ensure best outcomes. You will be able to work with large amounts of information, identify risk and need and communicate these in a manner that supports coordinators, to present clear and reasoned plans within agreed timescales and budgets. Having knowledge of alternative communication methods and the ability to think outside the box to arrive at bespoke solutions would also be an advantage.
As a manager in the Early Help and Short Breaks Team you will be working closely with the Children with Disabilities Team, the Occupational Therapy Service and the Transitions Team, who are co-located at Shute End. You will also liaise with our in-house providers of short breaks, health and education professionals and a range of private and voluntary organisations. A proven track record of effective partnership working, and networking is therefore essential.
As a manager within the Children with Disabilities Service you will be joining an experienced, supportive and child focused management team who are committed to delivering the best outcomes for children.
Experience of working with children in the disabilities sector is desirable and a Social Work qualification is essential.
