Central Bedfordshire Council are committed to supporting children with special educational needs. The council are looking to recruit an Educational Communicator for 11hours to work as part of the Hearing Impairment Team within our specialist resource provisions based at Toddington St George Church of England School, Parkfields Middle School and Harlington Upper School. You will join an experienced team of Educational Communicators co-ordinated by the Provisions Qualified Teacher of the Deaf (QTOD). The team is committed to greatly improving the lives of children within Central Bedfordshire.
The successful candidate will provide full time dedicated one to one communication support for pupils with severe/profound hearing impairments. Enabling them to access the academic and social curriculum and empowering them to realise their full potential under the direction of the Provisions Qualified Teacher of the Deaf within the classroom and the provision. A BSL Level 1 qualification is desirable or a commitment to achieve the qualification within a year. The ability to use your own initiative, work alone and as part of a friendly team is vital and part of the wider school team. The successful candidate will be supported by the Hearing Impairment Team to develop their skills working with deaf pupils.
The successful candidate will have a GCSE standard C for English and Maths or equivalent. It is desirable to have BSL Level 1 or a commitment to qualifying within a year.
