About the role
ESCC ASYE Programme - Supportive, progressive, innovative
Take your first step into social work and join one of our Outstanding* teams at East Sussex Children’s Social Care. You’ll discover a challenging but rewarding career in which you’ll make a real difference to the lives of vulnerable children and families.
You’ll have buckets of patience, sound judgement, as well as excellent observational and analytical skills. Crucially, you’ll be genuinely curious about what’s happening within a family and able to build relationships with families which genuinely change lives for the better.
You need to have completed your social work qualification and will register with Social Work England by September 2021, and not to have previously completed an ASYE programme elsewhere.
Our ASYE programme
Our progressive programme will enable you to develop essential professional skills, competence and authority through our induction, reflective supervision, mentoring, protected caseloads and bespoke training. We want to recruit those that are motivated and have the skills and knowledge to make a difference for our most vulnerable children. However, we know this last year has been really challenging and, so if you are successful, be confident that our ASYE programme will provide bespoke development support addressing any gaps in your placement experience.
We believe in really making things happen. So, we have developed our own practice model, Connected Practice, which focuses on intensive relational work with children and families underpinned by evidence-informed interventions. Our Social Work practice is high impact - we know we are making a difference because that’s what children and young people tell us.
95% of our social workers surveyed would recommend East Sussex as a good place to work. You can hear more from practitioners who have completed our ASYE programme in this film. Social workers have really appreciated our COVID response including a comprehensive wellbeing offer, pro-active hybrid working, and prioritisation of office space to our less experienced staff.
