Never has there been a more exciting time to join the Council’s busy Legal Services team. Broxbourne Borough Council and Epping Forest District Council have recently joined their legal teams, offering an excellent variety of work and opportunities to operate in two interesting and diverse environments.

 

Senior Litigation Lawyer (Ref No: SL)

Salary £40,076.92 p.a

 

This new role will be the lead for litigation at Broxbourne Borough Council, also with the opportunity to undertake work for Epping Forest District Council. The litigation work is varied and includes housing possession, anti-social behavior, debt recovery and commercial property litigation in the County Court and a wide range of prosecutions in the Magistrate’s Court, such as fly-tip and Planning enforcement cases. This post will also be the Lead Officer for licensing enforcement. 

 

The successful candidate will have an excellent knowledge of court procedures and be a confident advocate, while dealing with a varied personal caseload. In addition, the post holder will require outstanding communication both written and verbal with strong influencing skills and the ability to build rapport with a wide variety of people. Other essential skills include conscientiousness, hard-working and self-motivation, with exceptional organisational and prioritisation skills for managing a busy workload. Experience of working in a Local Government environment is desirable but not essential. 

 

The ability to converse at ease with members of the public and provide advice in fluent English is essential in this post.
