Parks and Leisure Ranger
The following opportunity has arisen within the Parks & Leisure Service, Guildford Borough Council
1 x Parks and Leisure Ranger (permanent position)
Salary: £21,175 - £23,383 per annum
An exciting opportunity has become available to join a team dedicated to delivering a high level of customer service within the day to day operation of Parks and Leisure facilities across the borough.
Your duties will include regular patrols, site visits, security and access for visitors, maintaining a high standard of presentation and a safe environment at all times. You will be highly visible and proactively engage with members of the public, event organisers, community groups and sports teams.
In addition to these duties, you will provide a high level of face to face customer service to users of additional seasonal facilities including the Stoke Park Visitors Centre, paddling pool and Chantry’s campsite.
Training will be provided where relevant and you will be expected to undertake competency based, operational and maintenance tasks to provide a safe environment for visitors of all facilities.
Successful candidates will demonstrate the ability to undertake training and follow policies, operating procedures, risk assessments and emergency action plans.
The role also involves educating the public on anti social behaviour, particularly in relation to dog fouling and littering offences.
You will also be responsible for basic maintenance of vehicles, machinery, equipment and tools; reporting any defects and completing necessary documentation.
With excellent verbal communication skills, you will be able to interact with members of the public in a tactful and diplomatic manner. You will also be flexible and reliable with the ability to organise and prioritise workloads. You will be required to keep written records and ensure that administrative tasks are completed in a timely, efficient and accurate manner.
The nature of these post means that you will be required to work a varied shift pattern over 7 days of the week, including mornings, evenings, weekends and bank holidays.
Permanent post: Your working hours will be 40 hours per week April - September and 34 per week October - March. Your hors will be on a rota basis between 7:00 and 22:30. Additional hours may occasionally be required.
