Health Improvement Lead - ICS Suicide Prevention
£43,857 - £46,845 per annum
Full time - 37 hours per week (part time/job share considered)
2 Year Fixed Term Contract/Secondment
The Hertfordshire and West Essex Integrated Care system (ICS) Suicide Prevention programme is recruiting for a Health Improvement Lead on a fixed term contract or secondment for up to two years. The post will be managed within Hertfordshire County Council Public Health Team, but the work will be across Hertfordshire and West Essex.
The focus of the post will be to co-ordinate the different elements of the NHSE ringfenced Suicide Prevention Wave 4 funding programme. This has been allocated to the ICS over three years (2021/22; 2022/23 and 2023/24) and aims to prevent suicide and reduce suicide rates across the ICS footprint.
The post will oversee the various schemes, campaigns and community funds agreed with stakeholders in Year 1 (2021/22) of the funding plan and manage reporting and assurance with NHSE and across stakeholders. The post will lead on the development and agreement of scheme proposals for mobilisation with Year 2 (2022/23) funding. The range of schemes cut across statutory mental health providers, local authority public health teams, health and social care partners, VCSE and community groups.
Therefore, you will be required to demonstrate sound knowledge and experience of mental health and suicide prevention work. Excellent project management skills are essential.
An important supporting element to achieving a reduction in suicides is the establishment of a Real Time Suicide Surveillance (RTSS) across the ICS. This is a system where police colleagues capture data on each suicide and feeds back to Public Health teams and the coroner in real time. Development of RTSS is advanced in Essex. The health improvement lead will have a pivotal role in supporting the development of this work in Hertfordshire.
You will be required to:
• Demonstrate excellent communication and partnership skills
• Support the development of Real Time Suicide Surveillance (RTSS) in Hertfordshire and act as the link into the Essex RTSS programme of work to share development and learning
• Support building Lived Experience representation at all levels of suicide prevention governance and co-production in scheme development
• Attend ICS level meetings as required.
