This post holder will case manage and safeguard some of the our most complex, vulnerable adults with severe and enduring mental health issues. The main function of the Mental Health Social Worker is to provide assessment, treatment, rehabilitation and after-care to mentally disordered individuals.
They will also be responsible for role of Approved Mental Health Practitioner (AMHP) as set out in the MHA (2007) and adhere to County Council policies and procedures. It is essential that this post holder is a qualified experienced AMHP or currently working toward this qualification.

The successful candidate will undertake all duties required by the Director of the Social Services Department which include:
Assessing needs using a person centred and recovery focus approach in conjunction with effectively assessing and managing risk.
Plan and deliver outcome focused interventions linked to promoting independence, social inclusion and recovery. We support people to build resilience and restore quality of life using a bio-psycho-social model.
Your enthusiasm for providing a high quality service will be matched by your ability to work collaboratively with service users who are experiencing a range of mental health and social care needs, as well as providing support and assessment to their carers and families. An excellent understanding of the issues people with mental health needs may experience is essential for this post as is a good understanding of Care and Treatment Planning and Case Management.

Educational attainments / Experience / Knowledge:
- Certificate, Diploma or Degree in Social Work or equivalent
- Approved Mental Health Professional qualification or currently studying toward qualification
- Registered with Social Care Wales
- Significant post-qualifying experience of statutory Adult care
- Direct involvement with Adult protection
The position carries an Approved Casual Car User Allowance therefore access to a vehicle for work purposes is a requirement.
