You will be joining a professional team of subject matter experts, that is focused on delivering a quality service to our residents. To support you in the role, training will be given with a view to you becoming a subject matter expert for the service. You will have access to your manager for advice and guidance on unusual or difficult issues, with the autonomy to manage your day as you develop within the role.

About The Job

Salary: Grade 8 £25,991 to £28,672 per annum

The successful person will have some knowledge of the health and social care markets, strong interpersonal skills and be a good communicator. You may have experience of care contracting, commissioning and / or managing services, or managing the performance of care services. Whichever background applies you will be outwardly focused, motivated by helping others, an excellent communicator and have experience of managing competing priorities and be able to use analytical, judgemental and common sense in order to triage incoming queries and workload.

As the contracts team are the interface between providers and WSCC, relationships are integral to the success of this role, we require some who is personable, has a market facing approach and can demonstrate professional curiosity to follow through on enquiries and investigations.

Experience and Skills

Key Skills:

  • Responsible for the use of analytical, judgemental and creative skills in order to deal with the management of a portfolio of contracts including solving problems and issues as they arise.
  • Assist in developing contract compliance, monitoring and review systems based on a risk assessment model.
  • Advise and assist providers to ensure they can meet the requirements of the Quality Assessment Framework.
  • Communicate with and develop good working relationships with a range of people, such as providers, key stakeholders and colleagues in order to provide specialist advice and information.
  • Analyse statistical information in order to enable effective commissioning.
  • Where appropriate represent the Authority by attendance at conferences and meetings in order to keep up to date with the current market.
  • Responsible for the financial processing in the letting of contracts of low risk / low value.
  • Asist projects and / or reviews of corporate projects, challenging existing practices and generating ideas and solutions and meeting agreed timescales.
  • Remain up to date and compliant with all relevant organisational procedures, policies and professional codes of conduct in order to uphold standards of best practice.

Qualifications and/or experience:

  • BTEC / HNC / NVQ3 level or equivalent experience demonstrating that level of numeracy, literacy and communication skills.
  • Demonstrable experience of managing contracts for effective results ensuring best value and optimum service levels are maintained.
  • IT competence.
