Are you looking for an opportunity to develop your career in a Planning Policy role? We are not your average local authority planning department. We are a forward thinking, innovative, and fun team; offering a great working environment, a wide range of projects, and career development opportunities. Don’t just take our word for it though…we recently won a National RTPI Award for Planning Excellence, and last year won the LGC Best Housing Initiative Award.
We have experience of, and continue to deal with, a comprehensive range of developments types; ranging from bespoke rural schemes, to large scale commercial development. You won’t find a typical planning team approach with us…we are positive, customer focussed, and passionate about creating a great place to live, work and visit.
We are in a period of growth, with more planned, and development levels are at their highest for some time. We also have a new Local Plan underway and are looking to recruit a Planning Policy Officer or Assistant, depending on experience, to help take this forward.
The successful post holder will play an important role in the production of the council’s planning policy documents, in particular the emerging Local Plan. You will get involved in a range of tasks including researching evidence, collecting monitoring data, drafting policy documents, carrying out and analysing the results of public engagement, and sustainability appraisal work.
In addition to a Local Government Pension Scheme; we also offer fully flexible working hours and a range of other benefits.
All staff are currently working from home, and we expect this to continue for a number of months yet. Following this, it is expected that the majority of staff will be home based for a reasonable part of the working week.
