The role- As well as having a key role in the above the Property Department is responsible for managing the Council’s diverse and substantial public buildings and commercial property portfolio and are seeking a qualified building surveyor to join the small team. The Buildings Manager will enjoy a varied workload which will include all aspects of routine building maintenance as well as larger repair and refurbishment projects.
The post involves travel across the Borough for which an essential car user allowance is payable (included in above package).
The Buildings Manager will be a highly motivated and organised team worker and be expected to have a relevant construction or building services related qualification HNC/HND or higher with a minimum of 5 years post qualification experience in a similar role. Experience of managing a team of people is essential as are a good knowledge of construction / maintenance related legislation, a proven track record of managing contractors and building contracts, as well as excellent communication and negotiating skills. The post holder must also be able to prepare clear concise technical reports, demonstrate the ability to schedule workloads and work to deadlines for both personal tasks and those of the wider team.
Local Authority; use of CAD and property management database; use of electronic tendering processes and procurement via framework agreements experience is desirable but not essential.
