This is a unique opportunity to join KMBC’s Educational Psychology Service in a leadership position to help drive the transform and develop the existing service offer and develop new practices and offers across the 0-25 SEND remit. The role will help to extend the breadth and depth of the EPS income generation opportunities, by making a significant contribution to the overall innovation within the EPS. The PEP will initially work with a range of commissioning partners in line with statutory and departmental policies.

We are seeking a motivated, innovative, and appropriately experienced individual to undertake the Principal Educational Psychologist (PEP) role. The PEP will be accountable to the Head of Service Inclusion to lead and develop KMBC EPS. This is an exciting time to join Knowsley Metropolitan Borough Council (KMBC) Educational Psychology Service. The team consists of friendly, experienced and supportive colleagues who are dedicated to providing a service that puts outcomes for children and families at the centre of their work. The Educational Psychology Service continues to be highly regarded by council officers, children, young people, families and LA colleagues within our schools and settings. KMBC EPS have high ambitions to enhance the current offer aiming to extend their strategic work with partner agencies and develop the model of service delivery offered to Knowsley schools, children and young people and their families across our footprint. The team have recently extended the range of systemic support they offer via the introduction of Early Years Group Consultation and Emotional Literacy Support Assistant (ELSA) training.

The PEP is supported by an experienced Senior Educational Psychologist who manages a number of the operational day to day functions of the EPS allowing the PEP to take a strategic focus modelling, shaping and growing the service.  At present we also have an establishment of 4 main grade Educational Psychologists.  Whilst the team is small it is representative of the local demographics however, as the EPS service offer grows, traded income will allow us to expand the size of the team so the PEP has a fantastic opportunity to shape the service as they see fit. The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate effective leadership skills, strong partnership working, and innovative solutions to support service delivery. To recognise the high demand for educational psychology, this post offers a competitive salary on the Soulbury B pay scale.  A high level of independence in shaping the future delivery of the EPS is also afforded.

For an informal discussion about the role please contact Mike Wharton on Tel: 0151 443 3994.
