About the ETI Directorate

The Environment, Transport & Infrastructure (ETI) directorate is responsible for a wide range of services including climate change, renewable energy, highways, transport, planning, countryside and waste management. These services are critical for people living, working and travelling through Surrey, delivered by the County Council or in partnership.

About the Team

The Environment Commissioning Group plays a crucial role in supporting the commitment of the Council in reducing CO2 emissions in Surrey to net zero by 2050, or sooner. The team works collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to set in motion the Council's renewable energy ambitions and to see these through.

About the role

As an Environment Project Officer focusing on delivery, communications and engagement, you will be responsible for delivery several programmes that form part of the Council’s Climate Change Strategy, developing internal and external communications and engaging with residents and the community to reduce environmental impacts.

About you

This is an exciting challenge for a pro-active individual with strong project management skills in the sustainability / climate change sector. To be shortlisted for an interview for this position, your application and supporting statement will clearly evidence:

  • Good understanding of climate change
  • Experience of working in communications and engagement in relation to sustainability/climate change
  • Excellent relationship management and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Exemplary project management skills and the ability to juggle several projects simultaneously.
