This role directly supports the Chief Financial Accountant in the Finance & Property Service and you will be responsible for leading, developing and motivating a team of eleven. It will offer you the opportunity to consolidate and broaden your existing skills and knowledge whilst developing new ones that will potentially enhance your own personal career development.
The successful applicant will be fully CCAB qualified accountant and it is essential that you will have a minimum of four years post qualification experience. The successful applicant will need to be able to demonstrate good working knowledge of the CIPFA Code of Practice, Prudential Code and capital and grant accounting.
The role requires the production and provision of high quality financial advice to the Chief Financial Accountant, Head of Finance & Property, Director for Resources and other senior managers of the Council and elected members. The role is heavily focused on compliance within the statutory framework in which Local Government finance operates and a successful applicant will need to demonstrate a history of and a willingness to maintain CPD compliance. Further skills required by the role include a history of successful people management and outstanding communication skills.
We are currently working remotely and will continue to support flexible working when we do return to the office post Covid. We are happy to consider candidates who wish to spend the majority of their time working remotely, as long as some time (to be negotiated) is spent at our offices.
